The announcement that the Presbyterian Church in the USA (PCUSA) has decided to ordain gay and lesbian people is drawing some initial reaction in Anglican circles:
Peter Ould points out that the PCUSA fundamentally altered their canons in such a way that there is now no requirement for candidates’ sexual relationships to be faithful, stable, or normative.
Alan Wisdom, a conservative Presbyterian voice, released a statement arguing that the PCUSA has now decided to provide no clear teaching or direction in regard to sexual relationships.
Christopher Rocca, over at the Huffington Post, provides the popular progressive response to the news, arguing that a person’s sexuality shouldn’t determine their ministerial roles.
This would be another good time to read Megan DeFranza’s pieces on biblical sexuality, over at the Center for Theology.
